Dr. Shi Nan has 26 years planning experiences specialized in policy analysis and master planning. He has been very active in major planning and research projects, including National Policy Framework for Real Estate Development (Ministry of Construction, 1992-1993), National Framework for Urban Design System (Ministry of Construction, 1997-1998), Strategic Planning for City of Yinchuan (World Bank, 2001-2003), National Compulsory Standard for Urban Planning Terminology (Ministry of Construction, 2004-2005), Revision of National City Planning Act (Ministry of Construction, 2001-2006), Urban Planning, Management and Development in 21 Century (UNDP, 2005-2006), Supply of Capacity Building in Urban Planning in China (World Bank, 2006-2007), Urban Regeneration for the Old Industrial Bases: A Sino-UK Comparative Study (DEFRA, UK, 2007 to date), Review of National Planning Standards System in China (Ministry of Housing and Urban/Rural Development, 2007 to date), Rehabilitation Planning After the Earthquake (Chinese Academy of Engineering, 2008 to date) etc. He has more than 15 years experiences working with major international organizations including World Bank, UNDP, IFHP, ISOCARP, Rockefellers Foundations etc. His major publications include Some Observations Concerning China’s Urban Development, China Urban Development Report, and Reader of Urban Planning etc. He was editor of Yearbook of Chinese Architecture, Asian Architecture and Building Industry, and Urban Planning Overseas etc.

He is currently a Member of National Board for Planning Education Accreditation, National Board for Certified Planner Examination and Registration. He also acts as professor at Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, and China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, and planning advisor to City of Guangzhou, Xi’an, Harbin, Dalian etc.
