2011 International Association for China Planning (IACP)
City Planning and Urban Design Best Practice Award

The IACP presented the 2011 best practice award and exhibition at its 5th annual conference in Beijing. The award was created to acknowledge planning and design excellence from professional firms, planning institutions, government agencies and individuals.

The award juries had chosen year’s winner to be the Beijing Gui River Creative Zone Plan (pdf file), a project proposal submitted by the Next Phase Studio (http://nps-architects.com/). The Boston based design and planning firm conceived a vision for a cultural and education center in suburban Beijing. The plan created a mixed-use district and vibrant public spaces that were also sensitive to local culture and eco-system, preserving wetland while adopting many sustainable principles including storm water management, on-site renewable energy, and building energy saving strategies. The entry stood as an outstanding example for urban-rural integrated development in the context of Chinese urbanization.

The award ceremony was held at 5th IACP annual conference at Renmin University in Beijing on June 18, 2011. Jianxiang Huang from the IACP board announced the decision from IACP jury and he introduced the winning proposal to the audience. Representatives of the winning team were invited to the ceremony and they received award certificate from Professor Zhong-Ren Peng, Chair of the IACP board. The winning proposal was held on exhibition at the conference site. Exhibition and the winning proposals were publicized by the IACP website and invited media.

2011年中国国际规划学会城市规划与设计最佳实践奖

IACP在第五届年会上颁发了2011年中国国际规划学会城市规划与设计最佳实践奖。奖项的创立是为了表彰企业，机关，政府，和个人的杰出规划设计实践。

评委将第一届获奖头衔颁给"北京妫河创意区" (pdf file), 选送单位是位于波士顿的下一阶段工作室(Next Phase Studio http://nps-architects.com/）. 规划方案在北京郊区构思了一个生机勃勃的城市混合功能区，尊重当地文化和生态系统，并采纳了湿地保护，雨洪管理，可再生能源，与建筑节能设计等多项措施， 是在中国城市化背景下的杰出实践作品，契合IACP大会城乡统筹发展主题。

颁奖典礼在2011年6月18日在北京人民大学召开的第五届IACP年会上举行。IACP理事黄健翔宣读了评委决定并介绍了获奖方案。获奖单位代表出席了颁奖晚宴并获得彭仲仁主席颁发的奖状。获奖方案在大会会场展出并且由IACP网站和受邀媒体报道。
