China’s evolving urban and regional policies and new thinking about sustainable
development have attracted worldwide attention. Following successful international
conferences on China’s Urban Development and Planning in 2007 and 2008 (sponsored
by China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development), the third annual IACP
conference will be held in Nanjing, China. The event is supported by Nanjing University
and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Nanjing University, the
local host, is a top-ranked university in China and a recognized leader in urban planning
education. Nanjing was the capital city of six dynasties, a city with rich historical heritage
and major tourism attraction.
The conference organizing committee, which includes representatives of the IACP,
Nanjing University, Tongji University, Tsinghua University, and Peking University, is
calling for papers that are related to the topics below. Funds are available to help current
IACP members defray portions of their travel costs, lodging and registration.

Abstract Submission
Please submit your paper abstract of 300-400 words, in English and Chinese, including
the title, the name(s) of author(s), affiliation, contact address, telephone and email
address, to iacp-bod@lists.dcp.ufl.edu by the deadline (see below). The abstract should
outline the methodology, data sources (if applicable) and state what the author(s) assert to
be the contribution of the paper to our existing knowledge. All submitted abstracts will be
evaluated and selected through a ranking process.
