Chinese Cities in Transition
Session organizers: Si-ming Li (HK Baptist University), Youqin Huang (SUNY
Albany), Fulong Wu (Cardiff University)
Sponsored by China Specialty Group and possibly Urban Geography Specialty Group
We invite participation in a session or series of sessions that examines the
socio-spatial transformations in Chinese cities. The sessions aim to
understand the global and local forces, as well as individual behaviors, that
are (re)shaping urban space in Chinese cities.
Potential topics include but are certainly not limited to the following:
- Housing and land reform
- Housing consumption and inequality
- Residential pattern and residential segregation
- Urban poverty
- Migration, migrants and migrant settlement
- Urban renewal and resettlement
- FDI and its impact on urban space
