International Association for China Planning(IACP)established
in the United States
The International Association for China Planning (IACP)
was formally established on October 29, 2005, at the 46th Annual
Conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning in Kansas City,
Missouri. The purpose of the Association is to advance the research of China’s
urban development by international planning circles, and to increase exchange
between Chinese and overseas circles of planning.
This
organization currently has a membership of over 200, of which 75% are of ethnic
Chinese identity or background. Members mainly include ethnic Chinese
university faculty and professional planners practicing in the United States,
the United Kingdom, Canada, and other countries; Chinese students studying
abroad in the fields of planning, geography, architecture, and other
disciplines; as well as a group of domestic Chinese planning faculty and
professional planners. Other members include foreign planning faculty,
scholars and professionals working in colleges and universities, the World
Bank, governmental planning and management agencies, private planning firms,
non-profit organizations, etc.
The Association elected nine members to form a Board of
Directors: Mr. Tingwei Zhang (Chair); Mr. Qing Shen (Vice-Chair); Ms. Yan Zhang
(Vice-Chair); Mr. Daniel Abramson (Secretary); Mr. Ming Zhang (Treasurer); Mr.
Zhong-Ren Peng; Mr. Fulong Wu; Mr. Jinhua Zhao; Mr. Zhan Guo. The

The International Association for China Planning
originated in the “China Planning Network,” which was established two years
before by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
Professor Lawrence Vale, Head of the MIT Department of Urban Studies, and MIT
DUSP faculty member Professor Karen Polenske, and University of California at
Los Angeles Professor Randall Crane were among those present at the meeting to
congratulate the founding of the Association.
国际中国城市规划学会(IACP)在美国成立
国际中国城市规划学会(International
Association for China Planning)于2005年10月29日在美国规划院校联合会(ACSP)在堪萨斯市举行的2005年年会期间正式成立。学会的宗旨是为了促进国际规划界对中国城市发展的研究,增加中国规划界和海外规划界的交流。
这个组织现有会员200余人,其中75%为华人,主要包括在美、英、加拿大等地的华人城市规划教授、规划师;在海外留学的规划、地理、建筑等专业的中国学生;以及一批国内的规划教授、规划师。其他成员包括在高等院校、世界银行、政府规划与管理部门,规划事务所、非营利组织等处工作的外国城市规划教授、学者和规划师。
学会选举出由9人组成的首届理事会:张庭伟(会长),沈青(副会长),章岩(副会长),Dan
Abramson (艾丹)(秘书),张明(司库),彭仲仁,吴缚龙,赵锦华,郭湛。学会的网址为www.chinaplanning.org.
国际中国城市规划学会始于两年前在麻省理工学院和哈佛大学建立的“中国规划网”(CPN,China
Planning Network)。麻省理工学院规划系主任Lawrence Vale教授、Karen
Polenske教授、加州大学(洛杉矶)Randall Crane教授等到会祝贺。
