Call for paper

Dear IACP Members and Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to cordially invite you to submit paper abstract(s) to the 6th International Association for China Planning (IACP) Conference, June 17-19, 2012, Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.

In the last three decades China has demonstrated remarkable progress in its urbanization. As a percentage of population, urbanization levels have more than doubled since 1980, and in 2011 the nation crossed an important threshold, becoming more than half urban. At the same time, China's urbanization has also undergone a qualitative transformation due to changes in governance and socio-economic structure. The resulting transition in both the scale and substance of the nation's urbanization has brought both tremendous challenges and opportunities to China's urban planners and policy makers.

Following the five successful international conferences on China’s urban development and planning from 2007 to 2011, the forthcoming 6th annual IACP conference will bring together planners, urban designers, scholars, and government officials from China and all over the world to exchange ideas on the theme “China’s Urbanization in Transition: Challenges and
Opportunities.”

Please follow the procedures outlined in the attached Call for Abstracts to submit your paper abstract(s). Thank you very much for your
participation and see you in Wuhan.

Sincerely,

Xueming (Jimmy) Chen, Ph.D, AICP
Chair, Board of Directors,
International Association for China Planning (IACP)
