MAO, QIZHI

MAO Qizhi is Professor of Urban Planning and Design and Associate Dean in the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University, China. He has been engaged in research and teaching in urban and regional planning, urban design, infrastructure planning, and GIS/RS and virtual reality technology application in rural and urban planning. He has done research and consultation work for UNCRD, UNDP, CIDA, Chinese National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Education, and Beijing Municipal Government. In addition, he completed rural and urban planning and design projects in many provinces and cities of China. He currently serves as vice president of the World Society of Ekistics (WSE), advisor to the Rural and Urban Planning Consultative Committee, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of People’s Republic of China, deputy director of International Cooperation Committee, Architecture Society of China, vice president of Beijing Urban Sciences Research Society, director of Historic and Cultural City Committee, deputy director of Urban Planning Specialty Education Steering Committee of Chinese Universities; deputy director of Beijing Urban Planning New Technology Application Academic Committee; and executive chief-editor, China City Planning Review.
Professor Mao earned his doctorate in engineering from Tsinghua University, a master’s degree from Stuttgart University in Germany, and his bachelor degree in Architecture from Zhejiang University.
